The National Safety Council (NSC) newsletter featured an analysis by Dr. Edward J. Heiden and Senior Research Associate Stephen McGonegal of survey data collected by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) on injuries associated with fixed-site amusement rides. In "2001-2002 Fixed Site Amusement Ride Injury Analysis", Dr. Heiden and Mr. McGonegal noted that annual estimates of injuries based on the IAAPA survey data have been well below those reported by the CPSC, which must extrapolate national estimates from a limited sample of participating hospitals.
